Lucente Rosso di Toscana 2007

A remarkably intense, deep purple. The nose is elegant and finely calibrated, with subtle initial notes of vanilla yielding to more fruity fragrances of dried plum and blackberry under spirits. The entry is immediately broad and deep, and the progression energetic and lengthy, marked by supple, densely-woven tannins. Overall, Lucente is a complex, generous, and compelling wine, concluding with an intensely aromatic finale.

History

Arquilla Bulk Trading Pty Ltd was created by the efforts of its founder Costantino Arquilla.
His dream was to build a family business and his wishes were cemented when the companies’ doors were opened on 1st July 1977.

The newly established family company rapidly outgrew their first warehouse in Marrickville, and new premises were opened at the current address in Leichhardt in 1986.

Solidity in growth

The company has continued to grow since those early days, and the turnover has earned Arquilla an impressive place in Australia’s top 300 privately owned companies for the past two years. The success of the company is widely recognised and in 1996 Arquilla was awarded the "Azienda Italia Award of Excellence" by the Italian Chamber of Commerce for outstanding contribution to Italian/Australian economic relationships.

Our new focus on wines

Australia’s cultural growth and development is reflected by the demand for fine wine. The company targeted this area for growth 10 years ago and, thanks to the efforts of Maurizio Ugge, has been instrumental in bringing the best Italian wines into Australia. Arquilla is considered one of the best Importers & Distributers of Italian Wines within Australia.

Wholesale coverage

Arquilla (NSW) employs seven salespeople, covering all Sydney Metropolitan area, Wollongong, Canberra, Newcastle and Griffith. Our customers are retail outlets such as gourmet Delicatessens, Independent Supermarkets, Chain stores, Restaurants, Liquor Stores and Function Houses.

Arquilla (VIC) opened in Melbourne 1st July 1996, servicing wines and spirits to restaurants and liquor merchants. On the 1st September 1997 Arquilla acquired 'Gully Wines' and added to its portfolio Victoria's second highest selling red wine in the state. Arquilla (VIC) now employs four salespeople covering all Melbourne metropolitan and larger country areas.

On the 19th June 2001, Arquilla Bulk Trading signed an exclusive wine distribution agreement with Queensland based Bouchon Wines, bringing wine distribution coverage to 85% of the total Australian Market.

The future

The management is committed to growing their core business and travel overseas to research and source new products.

The philosophy of the company is still the same even allowing for their continuing achievements, a successful family run business that offers their customer’s excellent products and unmatched service.
