Elio Altare is one of the leading wine making figures in the Barolo zone. His wines have been awarded 25 Gamberro Rosso Tre Bicchieri Awards. A true innovator and committed to relentless continuous improvement, he has always been at the forefront of Barolo making. He was among the first wine makers in the region to travel to other winemaking areas like Burgundy in an effort to improve his own wine making processes.

The Gambero Rosso Wine Guide is considered the Bible of Italian wines. For the 2007 guide, a panel of wine experts tasted 16,000 wines from over 2000 Italian Wineries and awarded just 282 wines the top accolade of 'Tre Bicchieri'.
