Winner of 8 Gambero Rosso Tre Bicchieri Awards
The Pio Cesare estate enjoys a long family tradition dating back to 1881. Throughout the generations the wines have been made to the same exacting family standards producing consistently excellent wines. Current owner Pio Boffa has inherited a history of commitment to quality and enhanced it further with the introduction of some modern techniques, like using barriques as well as botti in different proportions for his Barolos and Barbarescos, including the much awarded Barolo "Ornato" and Barbaresco "Il Bricco". Indeed, all Pio Cesare wines, including its Barberas and Dolcettos, are benchmark examples of their appellations.

The Gambero Rosso Wine Guide is considered the Bible of Italian wines. For the 2007 guide, a panel of wine experts tasted 16,000 wines from over 2000 Italian Wineries and awarded just 282 wines the top accolade of 'Tre Bicchieri'.
