Winner of 10 Gambero Rosso Tre Bicchieri Awards
Castellare di Castellina is a property of about 80 hectares in the heart of Chianti Classico. Its vineyards cover 22 hectares and are located on the hills of a natural amphitheatre facing south-east. The vineyards vary in age from five to 30 years. Established in 1968 with the merger of five farms, Castellare di Castellina is owned by Paolo Panerai. Yields per hectare are low so the winery conforms to the DOCG rules of Chianti Classico, although it also produces other Tuscan varietals.

The Gambero Rosso Wine Guide is considered the Bible of Italian wines. For the 2007 guide, a panel of wine experts tasted 16,000 wines from over 2000 Italian Wineries and awarded just 282 wines the top accolade of 'Tre Bicchieri'.
