The Leone de Castris winery lies in the north-west of the Salentine Peninsula, a region with old wine making traditions. Their popular 'Five Roses' wine was named after the rural zone, 'Cinque Rose', a name given after many generations of de Castris had five children.
This wine was first produced by Conti Leone De Castris in 1954. From 2004 onwards all the labels celebrate the 50th anniversary of this wonderful wine.
Very deep red in colour turning almost purplish. The nose reveals a rich perfume of plum, black cherry and also spices as ginger and vanilla. On the palate it is full bodied and velvety and well balanced. At sight it is dark red, almost purplish. The nose reveals a scent rich in fruity notes of plum and sour cherries but also spiced with ginger and vanilla. In the mouth it is warm, full and velvety. Excellent with grilled meats, tasty baked pasta, aged cheeses.
Primitivo of Salento is characterized by an intense red colour, scents of red
fruits and a spiced aroma of vanilla. In the mouth it is wide, smooth and
persistent. Very good with grilled meat and ripe cheeses.
Deep dark ruby red. On the nose, complex aromas of dark fruits, espresso, liquorice and herbal notes. Very classically taut on the palate, with finely honed tannins and a fresh, bright acid wire. An Apulian classic as it is written in the textbook
