Schola Sarmenti is a boutique winery in Nardò, Salento, at the heart of Italy’s Apulia region. Revived in 1999 by the Marra and Calabrese families, the estate occupies a beautifully restored 19th-century stone building with vaulted ceilings and underground tuff cellars used for barrel aging.
Dedicated to preserving Apulia’s native grapes, Schola Sarmenti farms its vineyards organically and uses the traditional Alberello (head-trained) system, some vines over 80 years old. Its wines—crafted from Primitivo, Negroamaro, Susumaniello, and Fiano—express the richness of Salento’s coastal terroir. Notable labels include Cubardi Primitivo, Neriò Negroamaro-Malvasia Nera, Antièri Susumaniello, and Vespre Fiano. Visitors can enjoy guided tours and tastings that showcase the estate’s passion for authenticity and craftsmanship.
