Marsala, Trapani
Founded in 1880, the Pellegrino family farms stretch for more than 300 hectares across many kinds of soil and microclimates. More than three hundred growers supply Pellegrino with grapes grown across the island. Carlo Pellegrino has invested substantial resources and is actively promoting the revival of production of its famous Moscatos and raisin wines.
Made in the province of Trapani in stainless steel vats, with traditional soft pressing and thermo-controlled fermentation.
Intense ruby red, aromatic bouquet with light cinnamon notes and hints of chocolate from new barriques and black fruits, berry aromas at the beginning, pleasant, well-profiled taste, sweet notes of coffee, medium body, well structured with strong tannins, long, spicy persistence, well balanced. It goes well with white and red meat dishes and not very mature cheeses.
Produced on the slopes of the volcano Etna, this red wine is best served with pasta, grilled meat and game. From the Nerello Mascalese and Nerello Cappuccio grape varieties, you are embraced by hints of red fruits and spices.
Aged for over two years in oak barrels producing an intense amber colour and offering persistent aromas with hints of oak to create a fine and delicate flavour.
Dark Amber in colour, this wine is more like a tawny port in character and reputed to be Garibaldi’s favourite wine. It’s sweetish in style, full and richly flavoured with hints of caramel and raisins. Its soft and sweet. This wine makes a classic after dinner drink.
This Marsala is an excellent example of Marsala, a fortified wine traditionally produced around the Sicilian city of the same name. It was immensely popular in England in the late 17th century (thanks to the efforts of English trader John Woodhouse), but gradually lost followers until a resurgence in popularity during the last five years. Produced via the 'in perpetuum' process – much like the solera system used to make sherry – Marsala attained DOC status in 1969. The Ambra in it's title refers to it's wonderful rich amber color and the Superior riserva, is a guarantee that it has been aged for at least four years.
The "Kelbi" of Cantina Pellegrino is produced with 100% Catarratto grapes; after the harvest, strictly manual, the grapes are softly crushed and left to ferment and vinified in steel for 4 months.Wine with a pale straw yellow color; strong hints of fruits and yellow flowers with a savory and citrus finish; fresh, harmonious and with an excellent balance. Perfect wine with fish-based main courses; to try with medium-aged cheeses. Serve at a temperature of 10-12ºC in a not very large glass.
Strong, full red. Fragrant bouquet of bougainvillea and red fruits, with hints of candied fruit. On the palate, strong blackberry tones, then a spicy blend of pomegranate and candied fruit. A soft, round and full wine, but never satiating or overbearing
Intense bright red. Full fruit in the nose, notes of dried berries, nice spiciness, rounded off by fragrant violets and chestnut honey. Very round, warm, soft and spicy on the palate, the tannins well proportioned, juicy, with good length.
The Rinazzo Syrah Terre Siciliane IGT impressively shows that the Syrah feels at home in Sicily. The extreme desert-like growing conditions make the Rinazzo particularly well structured. A delicate marriage of fruity and spicy aromas that pervades the nose and palate with a pleasant persistence.
