In 1766, a certain Mr. Lenz, obtained permission from Maria Teresa’s government to open, in Borgo Teresiano, the city’s first Austrian brewery. This explains why the best Viennese brewers moved to Trieste, as well as the origins of the name Theresianer.
Today Theresianer has its headquarters at the foot of the Dolomites, in Nervesa della Battaglia. The exceptional quality of the main ingredient is guaranteed – the brewery is supplied with superb, crystal-clear water from the nearby glaciers via deep aquifers.
