Villa Medoro is owned by the Della Loggia-Morricone Family. In 1966, Federica Morricone’s grandfather, Mr. Luigi Della Loggia, bought property in Medoro, a small village located near Atri in Abruzzo. The estate now encompasses over 250 hectares, 107 of which are currently planted with vines. Set in the beautiful area of Teramo hills and overlooking the green Adriatic Sea, this area is particularly suited to prime viticulture.
Federica Morricone, a young and powerful entrepreneur, took control of the estate in 1996, at the very young age of 22 years old. Since then, she has completely changed the objective of the company to focus on making high-quality wine that starts directly in the vineyard with low grape yields per hectare, a feature that is somewhat unique in a region that often prioritizes quantity versus quality. “Villamedoro l’anima del vino” or “Villa Medoro is the soul of wine” is the motto and driving concept behind this company.
Balanced and intense, crispy, mineral with flavors of yellow fruit.
Monepulciano is the name of a vigorous red grape variety planted over much of central Italy. The grape variety is recommended for 20 of Italy's 95 provinces but is most widely planted in Abruzzo, where it is responsible for the often excellent value Montepulciano d'Abruzzo, and in the Marche, where it is a principal ingredient in such reds as Rosso Conero and Rosso Piceno.
This is a single vineyard Montepulciano from the DOCG of Colline Terramane. A powerful yet elegant wine with typical varietal notes of cherries and plums that demonstrates beautifully the enormous potential of Montepulciano and the skill of Villa Medoro in translating the esoteric to the ethereal.
Pecorino 8 1/2 by Villamedoro is a fresh and jovial Abruzzo white wine from the province of Teramo, aged in stainless steel tanks to maintain the fruity fragrance typical of this recently rediscovered variety to the maximum. From the straw yellow color it emanates citrus aromas of grapefruit, framed by hints of sage, aromatic herbs and herbaceous touches.
